Stranger beats down Floyd’s outlaw henchmen and bags Floyd. His first bounty is Filthy Hands Floyd, an Outlaw who was ambushing the convoys which brought supplies into town. Stranger decides to take up some bounties to pass the time. (Which is later revealed to be surgery for the removal of his back legs), goes to the local doc’s office, to find that Doc isn’t in town. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers Stranger, who is desperately in need of a mysterious operation. Stranger brings him back to the Clakker town of Gizzard Gulch after fighting his men to cash in on the bounty. Blisterz continues to chase him through the forest, eventually getting bountied after falling into a fuzzle trap Stranger set up earlier. They sniff the air, picking up a familiar scent, when Blisterz Booty bursts through and shoots at the Stranger as he passes through them. They are disappointed, having only caught a small fish for food. The Stranger, a mysterious bounty hunter, is taking some animals to use for live ammo whilst some of the local Grubbs are fishing nearby. The game begins by showing an opening scene set within the Grubb Graveyard. When acquired, two different kinds can be assigned to the crossbow at any given time.
Live ammunition can be bought from the game’s vendors or found throughout the game world. One of the game’s main features is Stranger’s crossbow, used in a first-person perspective, that uses live ammunition in the form of small fictional creatures as projectiles for differing effects. While it refills itself over time, it can be used to shake off health-bar damage thus healing the player, but draining the stamina more quickly. Stamina drops when the player performs actions like melee attacks or falls from a great height. When damage is taken, the health bar drops if it fully depletes, it will result in the death of Stranger. The player has two status bars: health and stamina. Upon an attempted capture, Stranger is unable to perform other actions and thus is vulnerable. Once enemies are encountered, they can be killed or stunned live captives earn the greater reward. Enemies can be approached face-to-face, or by hiding out of enemy sight (as indicated on-screen) and luring foes from or toward the player. In third-person, the player controls Stranger when travelling long distances, platform jumping, rope climbing, and melee combat and in first-person, ranged weapons are used. The game utilizes both third and first-person perspectives. The premise of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is that the player’s character, called the Stranger, must capture wanted outlaws, dead or alive. One of the most notable features is the “live ammunition” system, which is ammunition made of living creatures like fictional insects and small mammals, each with different uses and effects against enemies this is evocative of the Thorn Batons and Living Tools of the RPG game Geneforge. The goal is to ultimately earn enough moolah (in-game money) to pay for a mysterious life-saving operation.
Throughout the game, Stranger pursues and captures outlaws in order to collect bounties. The game details the adventures of Stranger, a fearsome bounty hunter. In his quest to earn enough Moolah, Stranger reluctantly accepts the ultimate bounty from the owner of the Mongo River and suddenly his adventure takes a very different turn.
